Police congratulated on performance in Shropshire
Shropshire Policing Board has congratulated Shropshire’s Police Commander, Supt. Peter Lightwood, and his team on their performance in continuing to reducing crime.
During the period 1 April to 31 August 2011 there were 1,369 fewer crimes reported in Shropshire compared to the same period three years ago and 2,010 fewer reports of anti social behaviour compared to the same period last year.
Robin Bennett, Chair of the Shropshire Policing Board, said “Superintendent Peter Lightwood and his team of officers, staff, community support officers, specials and volunteers are to be congratulated along with the partner agencies they work with. Their efforts mean there are considerably fewer victims of crime and anti social behaviour in Shropshire. However, we are not complacent and have challenged Supt. Lightwood to provide a response as to how he intends to improve the solved rate of domestic burglary crimes.”
The Shropshire Policing Board, which is made up of West Mercia Police Authority members Robin Bennett, Kate Pready-James, Robin Durham, Councillor Malcolm Pate and Councillor Michael Wood , meets regularly with Shropshire’s Territorial Commander to monitor policing locally.
