Police Authority Support Projects for Young People in North Worcestershire

West Mercia Police Authority and West Mercia Police are supporting art projects for young people in North Worcestershire as part of Artrix Outreach in Action.

TC Peppercorn, Artrix’s Education and Outreach Co-Ordinator commented: “This is a huge scale project which promises to engage young people from across North Worcestershire who otherwise might not have the opportunity to take part in such creative activities. Artrix is delighted to be working with West Mercia Police and youth groups throughout the region as well as some outstanding arts educators.”

Forthcoming projects include:

Get In! – A free 10 week drama project for all youngsters including those with disabilities and special needs, which starts on Tuesday 21 February, from 5.00 pm to 6.30 pm at Artrix Arts Centre, Bromsgrove.

Film Café at Artrix, which is free to students for March, April and May.

Film2U, community family film screenings at Stourbridge Civic Centre, Woodrush High School, Wythall and Kingsley College, Redditch.

A Graffiti Art workshop and showcase on Bromsgrove High Street.
A rock choir starting on Thursday 23 February at Rubery Youth Centre from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm for 10 weeks with Carrie Garrett of RockStarVox.

An exciting ‘Zombie Apocalypse’ movie project incorporating professional screen combat training with Stagefight Ltd and Catcher Media.

Colonel Tony Ward OBE, the Chair of the North Worcestershire Policing Board, said

“I am delighted that we are able to provide funding to help Artrix deliver a wide range of activities to educate, engage and enthuse the young people of the districts of Redditch, Bromsgrove and Wyre Forest”.
