Getting Involved

There are a number of ways that residents of Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, Herefordshire and Worcestershire can help the Police Authority in ensuring that the people of West Mercia benefit from an efficient and effective police service :

Attend your local public meeting.

Policing Matters meetings were introduced across the force area during 2008. They provide you with the opportunity to meet your local Divisional Commander, Police Authority Member and other local organisation representatives, find out about and comment upon current policing issues and raise any concerns not addressed through the Partners and Communities Together (PACT) process.
Note: PACT meetings are very localised tactical meetings. They provide residents with the opportunity to meet with the Local Policing Team and their partners and agree what the local priorities for the neighbourhood will be over the coming weeks and months and to get updates on progress.

Have your say.

Take part in the various consultation exercises carried out throughout the year.

Become an Independent Custody Visitor (ICV).

Working in pairs you would make unannounced visits to police stations in your area to ensure that those in custody are held in accordance with guidelines.

Become an independent member of West Mercia Police Authority.
