POLICING BOARDS

There are five Policing Boards across West Mercia, one for each of the five Police territorial areas (Herefordshire, North Worcestershire, South Worcestershire, Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin.

The Boards, which are made up of the local Police Authority members (a minimum of three members per area), meet regularly with the Territorial Superintendent. The meetings are chaired by a member of the Police Authority.

The Boards monitor delivery of the Policing Plan at territorial level and in particular:

  • Monitor local performance, including: Delivery of the Policing Pledge; Local Policing Team Activity;Partnership Working; Local Survey Data; Co-ordination of community engagement activity.
  • Agree and monitor Local Area Agreement objectives and targets
  • Oversee and approve the Community Safety Initative Fund for the Division.
  • Approve Local Policing Summaries within a forcewide framework.
  • Receive operational updates.

Policing Board meetings are held in private in order to provide the opportunity for frank discussions.
